Glossier Review

I'm sure you've seen so many Glossier blog posts since everyone in the blogging world seems to be talking about them - it has died down slightly now but I'm still totally obsessed with them. The reason this blog post is much later than most peoples is because I wanted to wait and actually and give you my honest opinion.

I'm sure like many of you I first heard of Glossier when they were exclusive to America a few months ago and everyone that went over there would bring something back and make everyone suck in England slightly jealous. However when they announced they were shipping to the UK that's when I became interested in Glossier, it wasn't actually until a week or two weeks after the launch I became like 'I need to make an order now!' I watched and read all the blog posts and youtube videos to find out which products were most suited to me. At this stage being inspired by Glossier, I was planning on getting a minimal makeup bag and just use products I love every day, rather than a whole set of drawers with too many products to last a lifetime. If your interested in me doing a blog post on stripping down my beauty products as a beauty blogger, just let me know.

The first product I knew I wanted to get as I saw so many people rave about this product was the Boy Brow and let me tell you I'm totally obsessed with it. I decided to go for Blond rather than Brown just as I was worried that it would be too dark and harsh, I found that it perfect for my eyebrows. The first time I used it I was kind of disappointed as I made the first mistake and applied so much which left them feeling thick, stiff and kind of horrible. However, I'm in love with it now as I've learned to use small light strokes to get the fullest, natural brows. Also if your looking to switch to cruelty-free this is a great alternative to Benefit Gimme Brow.

The next product I decided to pick up was Balm Dot Com as everyone I noticed everyone was loving it and everyone said it's an essential to everyone's makeup bag, handbag as it's so versatile. I picked up the coconut one as it had no scent and everyone said how they loved the scent of this one the most. I like to use this as a lip balm the most, you can also use it for extra dewiness on your eyelids or cheeks or as a cuticle cream. I would say it's not for when you have dry lips as it doesn't provide that much-needed moisture but I find it works best for normal lips when you need added moisture, and like everyone else, I'm obsessed with the smell.

After scrolling through the website for hours decided what to buy I was wanting to try a face product, I was intrigued by the foundation but I wasn't sure on the shade and it doesn't provide much coverage so I made the decision to look elsewhere for a foundation. Instead, I decided to go for the Stretch Concealer, I know Anna (The Anna Edit) loves this product. I don't like to order these types of products over the internet as I find it so hard to match my skin colour. I went for the lightest shade which matches my skin, I find it's slightly orange tinted but I find when I blend it in it's alright and does suit my skin. Due to this product being so light and buildable it's been able to cover my scars, spots undereye and anything else, recently I've had quite dry skin and it's been one of the only products that don't cake or go flaky as it's so dewy. This has meant that I have had so many days where I'll simply just use this product. When I run out of my first pot I will one hundred percent pick up a new one.

I was intrigued by the Haloscope as everyone who I saw wearing this had the dewiest, highlighted skin. I went for Topaz which is the golden one this is meant to give you a healthy, sun-kissed glow. I have to admit this is probably my least favourite product from everything I order due to two things first I find it's not the most flattering with my skin tone, it looks to golden and secondly it's quite difficult to apply, as I find it's too hard to apply straight on to the cheekbones so instead you have to use your fingers on the stick. However despite this I still use it and will continue to use it, I feel the colour might be better in the summer with tanned skin (if I don't burn) and I do plan to try Quartz, which is more of a pink toned highlighter and I feel may suit me better.

Finally, I picked up two lipsticks, Generation G, fist in Zip which is bright red and secondly in Leo which is a brown nude shade, I've had lots of people ask what shade Leo is when I wear it. Both of these are matte which I love without being too matte that make your lips look dry, they still look super hydrated. I think the reason why I love them so much is because they are so buildable, I can see this with Zip the most, you can go from a lightly tinted red lip to a classic bold red lip. I'm wanting to pick up a few more of these I like the look of Cake, a peachy nude and Like a powdery pink. I also find them to be reasonably priced at £14.

I think most of their products are reasonably priced, I think some products are slightly too expensive for what they are. As well as makeup, which was the only things I picked up, they have a range of skincare, I think the only product I would really try is their jelly cleanser but I'm happy with my current skincare products so I decided not to pick up any. There is also a body range which includes a wash and cream, and finally, they have a newly released perfume which is amazing after receiving the sample with my order.

As you may be able to tell from above I'm obsessed with Glossier and I'm sure I will continue to be, the packaging, the website, the sticker sheet and just that fact the whole brand is millennial pink. Oh, and how can I not mention those iconic pink bags all the products come in, I'm obsessed with them and I'm sure I'll build a big collection. If you would like to take advantage of 10% off your order then I have a link here to share with you. I have already added a couple of products to my Christmas Wishlist including their new perfumer You which I fell in love with when I got the sample in my order, you need to sniff this perfume as it's amazing. I think I will be making many more purchases and I look forward to the new released - I heard there are some to come in 2018.

What's your favourite Glossier product?

Have a wonderful Christmas!

Faith in Nature

cruelty free & vegan, shower, bath, hair, shampoo, conditioner, makeup remover, hand cream, Faith In Nature
Ever since I decided to go cruelty-free as my new year's resolution in 2016, one of my favourite things is discovering new brands, I've found so many in the past year as a vast majority of brands in high street stores such as boots do a test on animals. So when Faith in Nature contacted me asking if I wanted to try some of their products I was looking forward to trying some of their products as it's a brand I've heard of before but never tried out any of their products before. They sent me a selection of products that they love for me to try out, so I'm going to share my first impressions of them.

The Ordinary Skincare

If you haven't seen this brand floating around the blogging community, where have you been? Over the past couple of weeks, I've seen so many bloggers raving about The Ordinary skincare products. I actually fist discovered them last year not long after they launched but I never found myself buying anything from there, I think because I didn't really know what to get (this is a problem I mention later) so I never really thought anything of them until about a month ago. There were now available to buy on ASOS which made it super easy to buy and they gave them a description wich I found easier to understand. I finally made the purchase and bought these three pieces.

Cruelty Free Cosmetics

I've been cruelty-free since the beginning of 2016 after choosing to do it for my new year's resolution. I've decided to make a page called 'Cruelty-Free Ultimate Guide' where I've listed some cruelty-free brands, advise for going cruelty-free and some of my favourite bloggers. Perfect for anyone wanting to make the change to a cruelty-free lifestyle or wanting to learn more. I'm going to try my best to keep updating it. Let me know if you want to see any more cruelty-free related posts in the future.

My Skincare Routine

This is a very overdue post, I've been meaning to post for months now. I can't quite believe that the last time and only time I posted my skincare routine was back in 2014. It's changed a lot since then, I have now switched to all cruelty-free products and use more natural products which I think has really helped to improve my skin. I have acne prone skin which is really and finally beginning to clear up, I have a few scars that are from the acne, my skin is can be oily on my t-zone and have some dry patches during the winter.

To begin my skincare routine in the evening I will remove my makeup and cleanse my skin with Lush  Dark Angles, to begin with, I wasn't sure about it but I've got the hang of it now and it really do wonders for my skin, it's left so soft afterwards, it also exfoliates my skin without being rough. I will then use my facial wash from Neals Yard if I haven't been wearing any makeup I will skip the first step and start with this product. I have actually had a full review on this here. With my facial wash, I use my Foreo Luna Mini. I love this product as it gives me a deeper clean to remove dead skin cells and makeup while unclogging pores. Due to it being made of silicone it makes it more hygienic than other facial brushes such as the Clarisonic and is fully waterproof so you can take it in the bath or shower and not have to worry about getting it wet. Fully charged I find it can last me a couple of months, and it just charges by USB.

I will then use the Tea Tree Toner from Lush, I know I've mentioned this before but this is my all time favourite lush product, it really helps with my skin type. The next step is I apply my Pai Rosehip Oil, this helps to reduce the acne scarring and even out my skin tone. I will then apply my spot treatments both from Mario Badescu, the drying lotion on whiteheads and the buffing lotion on the red or under the skin spots. It reduces the spots after one application and is gone in a couple of days. I think I'm going to have to repurchase the previous 3 products soon as I seem to be coming to the end of all three of them. I also included Mario Badescu in my 2016 favourites along with the next two products I use to finish off my skincare routine. I then use the moisturiser from Neals Yard to help moisturise my skin. I do have a full review on this here. To finish I apply my Hurraw lip balm to keep my lips smooth this has been amazing throughout the winter, I've had no dry lips.

Some other products I use every now and then include Neals Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm, it's so versatile as you can use it for so many things, I either like to use it for add moisture or an exfoliator. I will also use a face mask every couple of days my favourites include Lush Mask of Magnaminty, any of their Fresh Face Masks or Mario Badescu Whitening Mask.

Neal's Yard Remedies X Deliciously Ella

Neal's Yard Remedies x Deliciously Ella Review

I'm sure you all know who Deliciously Ella is but if not, she's a successful food blogger who alongside her blog has written multiple recipe books, has her own deli and does cookery classes. Ella promotes a plant-based and healthy lifestyle and is all about using organic and clean products, and strongly believes what you put on your skin is just as important as what you put in your body.

I was so excited when I heard Ella was collaborating with Neal's Yard this summer because they just seemed like they would create such lovely products. The line just consists of two products: a facial wash and a moisturiser. I love how there are elements of both of the brand within the bottles, of course, they are their classic blue glass bottle with a pump and then a gorgeous floral label with Ella's branding and the pump makes it so much easier as it's fuss and mess free. Inside each box, there is a card with Ella's top skincare tips. The ingredients, of course, have their benefits to the skin "balancing rose, toning lime, cooling cucumber and antioxidant-rich blueberries and acai."  I brought the duo, so it came all beautifully wrapped with Neal's Yard tissue paper, a blue box and ribbon. If you were wanting to buy these for a gift then this would be the perfect option - perhaps a Christmas present.

Firstly, the Rose, Lime and Cucumber Facial Wash (£16) is gentle yet still removes all the dirt. I like to use my Forero with it because I find it helps to foam up the product more than with just my fingers that then helps remove more dirt from my skin. It leaves your skin with a gentle glow and feeling fresh but without feeling like it's stripped back all your skin like some do. Of course, both of these products are cruelty-free, vegan and organic.

The Rose, Lime and Cucumber Moisturiser (£25) is such a lovely addition to my skincare routine - if you'd like me to do a skincare routine just let me know. I find that the rose scent is stronger in the moisturiser compared to the facial wash. The moisturiser is suitable for all skin types which is great. I find it to be really moisturising but without being heavy and greasy but I do find that it does take some work to make sure it sinks into the skin. With the pump, I've found you think you don't have a lot of product but when you work it in you have more than enough. I like to use it morning and night to help give my skin more through these colder months. I fond my skin to feel smoother and more radiant.

Some people are easily put off by the rose scent especially as it's quite strong in both of these products, however, I've kind of got used to them and don't mind it now. However, they are such lovely products and I would love for Ella to bring out more products with Neal's Yard.

NEAL'S YARD WILD ROSE BEAUTY BALM REVIEW

NEAL'S YARD WILD ROSE BEAUTY BALM REVIEW

Neal's Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm

This is the first product I've managed to purchase and test out on my products I want to try in 2016. I mentioned how I contacted Neal's Yard asking which products were good for acne scarring and they recommend this because it contains wild rose oil. Wild rose oil also helps to repair and smooth to help to nourish the skin.

Inside the box, you also receive an organic muslin cloth which is perfect for when you're using the balm for many of its purposes. You can use this balm as an exfoliating cleanser to a moisturiser to a facial treatment. The multipurpose balm is also cruelty-free (along with all of Neal's Yard Products) and it's 99% organic - which is pretty impressive. I love to use this product before I go to bed due to it being so gentle on the skin. Recently I've been suffering from dry skin so I like to apply it directly to the skin to help nourish the skin. Although it's not the best cleanser I like to sometimes use it because of it containing rose oil it helps to reduce the acne scarring I have but also leaves my skin feeling great - soft and refreshed.

The packaging for this product packaging is different to their signature packaging because this packaging was designed for their 10th anniversary, but they decided to keep it on this product. Isn't it so pretty?

Have you ever tried any products from Neal's Yard?

LoveLula Beauty Box March 2016 & Review

This is the last of my subscription box from LoveLula, as part of my Christmas present. I thought I would you, my thoughts on the LoveLula subscription boxes now I've received them for 3 months.

Again I was extremely happy when I opened this box. The fist product I noticed and was desperate to open and try was the Hurraw lip balm. I always heard such good reviews about them, I opened it straight away and applied it to my lips - even though this is best at night. I found it helped some of the dryness with just one application. I will defiantly be building my collection with the 20% discount with the box. I received 3 items from Urban Veda: Radiance Day Cream, Radiance Exfoliating Facial Polish, and Daily Radiance Facial Wash - I hadn't heard of this brand before but I'm looking forward to trying them. Another product which I'm excited to try is TurBliss Peat Masks. Another full sized product was Skin Blossom's Cleansing Milk, it's vegan and 91% organic. This was very useful as I was on the look out for a gentle wash cleanser. As usual, I received 2 packet samples - they were both moisturizers.

I now thought I'd share my view on subscription boxes. I haven't been disappointed that's for sure, every box that has been delivered to my door has featured some pretty amazing brands and is defiantly worth the money. I loved waiting every month for the next one then opening it and seeing what's been included that month. I had my subscription as a Christmas present - for me, this has been perfect. I'm not too sure if I'm going to continue to pay for the subscription myself but I strongly believe that for following birthdays and Christmases I will be asking for it again. I have loved discovering new brands every month - this was one of the main reasons I asked for it as after switching to cruelty-free it's something I found hard, so it's defiantly helped me with that problem. However, with that comes with one problem I find with subscription boxes it that I now have a large box of unused/unopened products I'm yet to test. I feel like if I continued with the subscription my box would only get larger and then I would be a little bit pointless because I don't even get to trial the products I'm sent.

Check out what was in my January Box & February Box

What do you think about subscription beauty boxes?

Love Lula Beauty Box January 2016

Love Lula Beauty Box Subscription January 2016

This is my first ever subscription box, so I thought I would share my thoughts on it. I actually asked for this as a Christmas present, I received the 3-month subscription which for me and as a gift is perfect.

I chose to go for LoveLula's Beauty Box as this year I fell in love with their online store and wanted everything so when I noticed that they do a subscription box, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to trial out some of their brands also, I'm on the lookout for new cruelty free brands. LoveLula is an online beauty store, they stand for a number of manifestos such as no animal testing, minimal waste, no harmful chemicals. It's become my new favourite online beauty store, you can often find me browsing on there.

In this months box, I received three new brands but 7 new products to test out. It came in a cardboard box with shredded paper inside along with the products and a card which give me a couple of sentences about each of the products I received. Also, on the card is a code where I can receive 20% off any of the brands featured in this month's box - I really like this idea.

This month I received Madara's tinting fluid, it's a lighter version of a foundation but while you are wearing it, it helps to hydrate and illuminate the skin. Even though it's very light it gives a really good coverage. Secondly, I received Rossi's face cream, I'm yet to trial this out but it's meant to be a rich face cream to use anytime to help hydrate the skin. The final brand I received was Ontario, from this brand I got a Revive & Shine shampoo and conditioner, Hydrate & Shine shampoo and conditioner and a Restore & Shine hair masque. I feel these would be perfect for traveling. I'm unsure whether to save them or trail them out.

Overall I've been very pleased with my first ever beauty subscription box. I look forward to seeing what's in the next 2 boxes.
